NEW FACES Dr. Troy Mattox has been hired by Emergency Physician Services in the practice of emergency medicine. He holds a degree from the University of Utah and completed his internship and residency at Indiana University.

Jennifer Simpson has been hired as an associate at Witherspoon, Kelley, Davenport & Toole. She holds a degree from the University of Idaho College of Law and her practice will include business and real estate.

Jacob Jamison has been hired as an AutoCAD tech/drafter/designer by Storhaug Engineering. He holds a degree in civil engineering from Spokane Community College.

Paul Naldrett has been hired as a survey manager at Adams & Clark Inc. He previously worked as an engineering project/survey manager for a surveying and engineering firm in Baltimore, Md.

Mary Hedrick has been hired as a certified physician assistant at Valley OB/GYN. She is a graduate of the University of California.

Dr. Michael Olek has been hired by the Rockwood Clinic neurology group as a neurologist specializing in multiple sclerosis patients. He holds a degree from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed several residencies and internships. He previously taught at Harvard, the Multiple Sclerosis Center at the University of California at Irvine and the University of Texas Southwestern in Dallas.

Inland Northwest Bank has hired Patti Murray as a training manager. She previously worked as a trainer at a local financial institution.

Sarah Bain has been hired as a marketing and communications associate at the Inland Northwest Community Foundation. She previously worked for The Spokesman-Review and was on the faculty at Eastern Washington University.

PROMOTIONS

Sterling Savings Bank has promoted Bucky Marshall to business development officer in its Small Business Administration and Commercial Real Estate department. He has been with the bank since 2006.

Bruce Bricker has been promoted to North American channel sales manager at Telect. He previously worked on the company’s inside sales team.

KUDOS Lori Peters recently earned the Certified Residential Specialist designation from the Council of Residential Specialists. Peters is a sales associate with Windermere Real Estate/Valley.

Dr. Arthur Watanabe has received board certification in the field of interventional pain management and is the only physician with the certification in the area. He is a diagnostic radiologist and founder of Open MRI and Spinal Diagnostics.

Lyn Pelton of Re/Max by the Lake has recently received her GRI designation from the Realtor Institute. She has been a Realtor in the Coeur d’Alene area for six years.

Dr. Neil Giddings was recently featured in Spokane-Coeur d’Alene Living magazine as one of America’s Best Doctors in the field of otolaryngology. He has worked at the Spokane Ear Nose and Throat Clinic since 1993.

Darren Hand, a wealth management adviser with Merrill Lynch, has received the Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor designation from the College of Financial Planning.

Chris Holloway, North Idaho Fair and Rodeo general manager, was recently named Fair Manager of the Year by the Rocky Mountain Association of Fairs. She has held the position since 1999.

Spokane-based Magner Sanborn recently earned three Pearl Awards from the Custom Publishing Council for its work on “Amp’d – the magazine.” The company won Silver Pearl Awards for best cover design and best tie-in with a marketing/multimedia campaign and a Bronze Pearl Award for best in custom: honoring overall excellence.

Kevin Grandy, an employee of Spokane County, recently completed the Court Management Program of the Institute for Court Management.

First Avenue Pharmacy received the 2007 Community Pharmacy of the Year Award.

APPOINTED Fran Bahr has been appointed to serve a three-year term on the Idaho Humanities Council. She is an English instructor at North Idaho College.

Karen Ballard has been appointed tourism administrator for the State of Idaho. She has been with the Idaho Tourism Division since 1992.

Several new members have been appointed to St. Luke’s Rehabilitation Institute’s Community Advisory Board. They are: chairperson Betsy Wilkerson of Moore’s Boarding Home; Jane Pimentel, Eastern Washington University Communication Disorders Department; Michael Dunford of Moloney & O’Neill; and Dr. John Moyer. ELECTED Dr. Richard Gower was recently elected president of the American College of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology. He is a clinical associate professor of medicine at the University of Washington and a private practitioner at Marycliff Allergy Specialists in Spokane.

GIFTS Comcast recently donated $15,000 to Spokane Public Schools to support literacy programs at the five elementary schools that offer all-day kindergarten: Bemiss, Holmes, Logan, Regal and Stevens.
