Former Lewis and Clark High star Katelan Redmon scored a career-high 20 points and Michelle Augustavo drained three consecutive 3-pointers early in the second half Sunday to help break open a close game as Washington downed UC Irvine 87-69 in non-conference women’s basketball play at Seattle.

Redmond, a freshman, scored 10 of her points during the second half, and hit 9 of 16 from the field for the game. Her previous career high was 19, set on Nov. 10 in the season opener at Kansas State.

Washington (4-4), with just nine players available because of injuries, hit .the 500 mark for the first time this season.

The Anteaters (3-4) had a three-game winning streak snapped.

•Kemie Nkele scored 23 points, including four consecutive free throws in the final 28 seconds of overtime, and pulled down 10 rebounds to lead the UC Riverside Highlanders (1-5) to a 75-65 victory over the Gonzaga Bulldogs in the consolation game of the ASU Classic at Tempe, Ariz.

Tiffanie Shives led Gonzaga (4-3) with 16 points.

No. 18 Auburn beat No. 14 Arizona State 75-69 in the championship game.

•The Utah State Aggies (1-5) got 16 points from Jamelah Brown and shot 56.8 percent from the floor on their way to a 74-55 non-conference victory over the Eastern Washington Eagles at Cheney.

Katy Baker scored 16 points to pace the Eagles (1-6).

•Ashlee Michelson scored 27 points and pulled down 11 rebounds to lead the Community Colleges of Spokane Sasquatch (5-3) to an 82-77 double overtime victory over the Everett Trojans (4-2) and capture the Everett Classic championship.

Michelson and Kelsey Stillar were named to the all-tournament team.

Junior hockey

Daniel Salamandyk stopped 36 shots to lead the Sicamous Eagles to a 4-2 Kootenay International Junior Hockey League victory over the Spokane Braves at Midway, British Columbia.
