Coeur d’Alene used a big second-half effort to beat West Valley in a non-league game Tuesday in Coeur d’Alene.
Andrew Prohaska and Nate Clinton scored 11 points apiece for the Vikings (3-0), who outscored the Eagles 33-22 in the second half to erase a nine-point halftime deficit.
Senior Bryan Peterson led West Valley (1-1) with a game-high 20 points and James Cahalan added 11.
In other non-league games, Justin Tschabold scored a game-high 15 points and David Ramacus added 13 as Medical Lake opened its season with a 46-40 win at Post Falls. Gardner Torrence added eight points for the Cardinals, who built a 24-19 lead at halftime. Levi Buckles tossed in 12 points to lead the Trojans (1-4). … Brandon Hardie scored 14 points and grabbed six rebounds to lead Cheney to a 72-34 season-opening win over visiting Priest River. DeAngelo Jones chipped in 14 points and Griffon Jones added 12 points and six boards for the Blackhawks (1-0), who outscored the Spartans 33-10 in the second half. J.P. Ramsey had a game-high 15 points to lead Priest River (1-3).
In other non-league action, Tekoa-Oakesdale came alive in the second half and cruised to a 75-41 win over Liberty in Tekoa. Brandon Hovde had 17 points, nine rebounds and nine blocks, Kelly Cook chipped in 16 points and Casey Cook added 14 points and 11 rebounds for the Nighthawks (2-1), who outscored the Lancers 44-16 in the second half after leading by six at the half. Lane Salsbury scored 14 points to guide Liberty (0-2). … Rory Ruskovich made seven 3-pointers and finished with 21 points to lead Coeur d’Alene Charter to a 57-37 win over St. Michael’s in Coeur d’Alene. Bob Schrack added eight points and 11 rebounds and Wesley Billingslea and Eli Froncovich each chipped in eight points for the Panthers (2-2). Trevor Johnson paced the Warriors (0-1) with 13 points.
Jordan Dickson made a 3-pointer with 2.3 seconds remaining to give St. George’s a 62-59 win over host Lakeside in Nine Mile Falls. Jeffrey Livingston led the Dragons with 23 points and 10 rebounds and Dickson finished with 18 points. Brennan Yetter added 13 points for St. George’s (2-2). Kyle Stillar had 23 points and seven rebounds to pace the Eagles (0-1). … Jake Heinen scored a game-high 24 points to lead Freeman (2-0) to a 50-45 victory at Deer Park. Heinen made 5 of 6 shots from beyond the arc. Kevin McNeil tallied 10 points and Corey Meyers and Dallin Lundgren added eight apiece for the Stags (0-1). … Bucky Thomas and Fred Loucks scored 11 points apiece to lead Kootenai (3-1) to a 45-36 win over Timberlake at Spirit Lake. Jens Jacobsen scored 10 points to guide the Tigers (0-4), who couldn’t recover after falling behind 25-13 at the half.
