Amazon’s list made better

The Spokesman-Review

How do I … improve the recommendations offered at Amazon?

The big computers at Amazon notice you when you come back, and if you’ve bought some stinkers in the past, those choices will cause all sorts of similar products to be hawked onscreen.

Here’s how to remove those past purchases from your history so that the recommendations are smarter:

Go to the main Amazon page and look for the Your Account link in the upper right. Generally, if you allow cookies on your browser, the site opens your main page automatically. Click Your Account and then scroll down to the Improve Your Recommendations section. Click there. You’ll see several pages of listed items (assuming you’ve bought several over the past few years). Each one has a check box saying Use to Make Recommendations. Uncheck the ones that you want disregarded.
