Hints from Heloise

Dear Heloise: I was wondering if the organization that collects fronts of greeting cards is still recycling them. It used to be St. Jude’s Ranch for Children. – Ruth DeMarco, Lansing, Ill.

Sorry to say, but St. Jude’s Ranch for Children no longer collects card fronts. How about considering one of the following recycling hints?

•Cut into gift tags or bookmarks.

•Make into a postcard.

•Write recipes or shopping lists on the back .

•Decorate a box or appointment-book cover.

•Use to decorate a CD case.

•Place several together and laminate to make a place mat.

•Cut out scenes and glue to poster board with family photos to make a collage.

No one likes to think about those pretty greeting cards winding up in a landfill, so check with your town to see if it recycles cards with other paper goods. – Heloise
