Wildcats roll over Bulldogs

The Gonzaga Bulldogs baseball team was unable to avoid a three-game non-conference sweep to No. 27 Arizona, falling 12-1 on Sunday at Kindall Field in Tucson, Ariz.

The Bulldogs’ Clayton Mortensen took the loss in his first start of the season, throwing 5 2/3 innings, allowing 11 runs on 11 hits and two walks while striking out six.

Brad Mills earned the win for the Wildcats (3-0), going 6 2/3 innings, allowing one run on four hits and a walk, while striking out five.

Gonzaga’s only run of the game was scored in the top of the seventh inning when Aaron McGuinness scored on a single by Mark Castellitto.

Gonzaga (0-3) returns to action on Friday when they open a three-game series at No. 26 UC-Riverside.
