Boys: Rangers top Lancers in OT

Travis Zimmerman scored a game-high 21 points and Nate Phillips added 17 points as Selkirk edged Liberty 66-63 in overtime Tuesday night in the first round of the District 7 2B tournament at Spokane Community College.

Zimmerman made a free throw with 2.7 seconds left in regulation to send the game into overtime.

Trevor Turpin nailed a 3-pointer late in overtime to give the Rangers (16-5) the lead for good.

Andrew Canning tallied a game-high 22 points for the Lancers (16-5).

In other tournament action, Republic (21-1) topped Reardan (12-9) 25-17 at SCC. The Indians attempted a stall strategy on offense, at one point holding the ball at half court for more than 5 minutes. Todd Orestad scored eight points and Derek Gianukakis added seven points and 12 rebounds for the Tigers. Chance Ackerman tallied a team-high nine points for Reardan, which will play Liberty at 5 p.m. Thursday at SCC. Republic advances to play Selkirk Thursday at 5 p.m. at Spokane Falls Community College. … Henry Butler and Jordan Dickson scored 14 points each and Jeffery Livingston added 12 points and 13 rebounds as St. George’s (16-5) topped Lind-Ritzville (12-9) 58-47. Myles Borth tallied a game-high 15 points and Matt Saetre added 14 to lead Lind-Ritzville. … Chase Ramey scored 18 points and Derek Iranon added 13 as Northwest Christian (21-0) routed Wellpinit (12-10) 61-37 at SFCC. Matt Zanbergen added 10 points for the Crusaders, who led 31-13 at halftime. The Redskins will play Lind-Ritzville at 6:45 p.m. Thursday at SCC. NWC will meet St. George’s at 6:45 p.m. Thursday at SFCC.

Drake Costlow scored 32 points, including nine 3-pointers, as Odessa (6-14) topped host Cusick (9-12) 64-53 in the first round of the District 7 1B tournament. Jimmy Cupp tallied 20 points to lead the Panthers.

JT Levenseller scored a game-high 20 points, leading Pullman (9-8, 8-3) to a 62-51 Great Northern League upset of visiting West Valley (14-3, 10-1). Jamie Fertakis tossed in nine points and Levi Lane added nine rebounds for the Greyhounds, who led by six at halftime. Jordan Lupfer-Graham tallied 18 points and Casey Sherrill added 10 to lead West Valley. … Ray Erwin scored 20 points on 8-of-10 shooting as Medical Lake (7-10, 4-7) topped host Riverside (5-12, 2-9) 55-47. Brendan Greene tossed in nine points and Justin Tschabold and David Ramacus added seven apiece for the Cardinals. Kris Wise scored 15 points to lead Riverside.
