Girls basketball: Dragons storm back, beat Gorillas
Chessey Thomas scored a team-high 13 points and Lena Leveret-Sandal added 12 as St. George’s used a big second-half effort to beat Davenport 43-33 Friday at the District 7 2B Tournament at Spokane Falls Community College.
The Dragons (15-8) outscored the Gorillas (14-9) 30-12 in the second half to erase an eight-point halftime deficit.
Stephanie Morrison tallied a game-high 16 points to lead Davenport.
In other tournament action at SFCC, Jen Christerson scored 22 points and Brook Ferderer added 19 points and 13 rebounds as Reardan (16-7) cruised past Springdale (13-9) 59-34. Amanda Krieg tallied a team-high 10 points for the Chargers, who will play Davenport today at 11:15 a.m. The Indians advance to face St. George’s today at 2:30 p.m.
District 7 1B Tournament
Nichole Miller scored a game-high 16 points and Amanda Grumbach added 14 as Curlew (21-1) advanced to the championship game and guaranteed themselves a spot in the state tournament with a 59-24 rout of visiting Cusick (9-13). The Cougars will meet either Almira/Coulee-Hartline or Inchelium in the finals Feb. 17 at 5 p.m. in Deer Park. … Raye Galloway scored 17 points and grabbed 10 rebounds as Odessa (1-20) edged visiting St Michael’s (5-16) 40-35, earning their first victory of the season. Tina Raynor tossed in 14 points for the Warriors, who are finished for the season. The Tigers will face the loser in today’s game between host Almira/Coulee-Hartline and Inchelium Tuesday in Deer Park at 6 p.m. … Kaprina Goodwin scored 21 points and grabbed 12 rebounds as Northport (4-16) beat visiting Columbia (4-17) 52-40. Michelle Lojas tallied 14 points to lead the Lions. The Mustangs will play Cusick Tuesday at 6 p.m. in Deer Park.
Whitman County
Rochelle Druffel scored 18 points and Alisa Moehrle added 16 as Colton (18-3) topped Tekoa-Oakesdale (14-7) 53-36 at the Whitman County tournament in Endicott. Courtney Druffel tossed in 12 points for the Wildcats, who will meet top-seeded Sprague-Harrington (18-2) in the championship today at 6 p.m. in Endicott. The Nighthawks advance to the District 9 1B tournament Monday in Walla Walla as the No. 3 seed. … Ellen Miller scored 22 points as St. John-Endicott (10-12) edged Garfield-Palouse (11-8) 49-47. Courtney Shoemaker tallied a team-high 17 points for the Vikings, who are the fifth seed heading into the district tournament. The Eagles are No. 4.

Junior Cory Druffel scored a game-high 15 points, including four 3-pointers, as Pullman (18-0, 12-0) used a strong fourth quarter to beat host Medical Lake (7-11, 4-8) 49-43. Jessica Thomas tossed in 11 points and Alyssa Garro added 10 for the Greyhounds, who outscored the Cardinals 19-10 in the fourth quarter. Richelle Daily tallied a game-high 19 points and added 12 rebounds to lead Medical Lake. … Kellie McCann-Smith scored a game-high 26 points and Misty Atkinson added 22 points and seven rebounds as Clarkston (13-4, 10-1) walloped visiting Deer Park (4-13, 3-8) 76-38.
