U-Hi has slim lead over Pasco at regional wrestling

University gained a slim 1.5-point lead over Pasco after the first round of the 4A Eastern regional wrestling meet Friday at University High School.

Central Valley is in fourth place. Gonzaga Prep is in fifth place, followed by Ferris (sixth), Lewis and Clark (seventh), Mead (eighth), Shadle Park (10th) and Rogers 12th.

The event continues today at 10 a.m. where four berths to the Mat Classic in Tacoma are at stake in each weight class.

“The 3A regional tournament begins today in Sunnyside at 10 a.m.

“Team scores were not available for the 2A regional, which continues today in Ellensburg at 11 a.m. At stake are five berths to the Mat Classic in Tacoma.

“Lakeside (Nine Mile Falls) is currently in front at the 1A regional in Colfax, which continues today at 10 a.m. At stake are five berths to the Mat Classic in Tacoma.

“Tournament-host Reardan is in third place at the 2B/1B regional. Oroville is currently in first place with 67 points. The tourney continues today at 10 a.m.
