Sweet Hearts
Below are the winners of our Valentine’s Day coloring contest, selected from a field of more than 700 entries from throughout the region.
As always, a variety of mediums and techniques were represented, with young artists using everything from glitter to beads to a gigantic chocolate heart to decorate their entries (we did our best not to eat that last one).
We received 704 entries total; 140 in the 0-4 age group, 350 in the 5-8 group, and 214 from kids age 9-12.
All of the entries will be on display at Mobius Kids, in the lower level of Riverpark Square, through Feb. 25.
The entries were judged by a volunteer panel from The Spokesman-Review’s features and design departments. Criteria included theme, execution, creative use of color/medium and overall originality. Each of the winners receives a gift certificate good for two free admissions to Mobius Kids.
An honorable mention goes to 85-year-old Sally from St. Maries, whose entry included a note advising that “some of us are still children at heart.”
Thanks to everyone for your entries, and go easy on the orange and black crayons – you’ll need them for the next contest, which will be around Halloween.
Keep on coloring!
