BSU dupes both Vandals, Sooners

Oklahoma must not have watched the Boise State game film against Idaho.

BSU ran the Statue of Liberty – which accounted for the winning 2-point conversion against the Sooners in the Fiesta Bowl Monday night – on Idaho in the Kibbie Dome in October. It worked against the Vandals, too, and led to a TD that put BSU up 35-26 in the fourth quarter.

Against Idaho and Oklahoma, three receivers lined up wide to the right. Quarterback Jared Zabransky pump-faked and then handed the ball off behind his back to Johnson. In the Idaho game, Johnson raced around left end for 11 yards and a first down.

“Boise is kind of notorious for pulling out different gadget plays,” UI linebacker David Vobora said after the game. “We practiced for some different things, but that definitely wasn’t one of them.”

Real QBs know how to cry

Just a couple of excerpts from Reggie Hayes “Cheapshots” column in the News-Sentinel of Fort Wayne, Ind.

“”Speaking of retirement, did you see Brett Favre’s emotional interview after the Packers’ season-finale win over the Bears? That was that most poignant crying since Seahawks fans discussed the officiating in Super Bowl XL.

“”Michael Jordan and his wife of 17 years are divorcing. They say it’s an amicable split, but details have yet to be worked out over who gets custody of Charles Barkley.”
