Nick Livi scored a game-high 19 points and Brian Morris scattered the stat line with 10 points, six rebounds and four assists, but it wasn’t enough as North Idaho College fell to Snow College 66-60 Friday in Scenic West Athletic Conference action at Ephriam, Utah.

Kerry Williams and Zach Parks added seven points apiece for the Cardinals (9-4), who found themselves down 36-23 at the half.

Geoff Payne led three Badgers who scored in double figures with 13 points, and he added four assists.

Snow outshot North Idaho from the field and won the battle of the boards 33-22.

The Wildcats (5-7, 0-3) were led by Sten Morgan’s 18 points.

Women’s basketball

Jami Bjorklund’s layup with 44 seconds left broke a 56-all tie and helped Gonzaga to a 60-56 win over Loyola Marymount in a West Coast Conference opener in Los Angeles.

After Bjorklund (University High) drove the baseline for the winning score, the Lions (8-7, 0-1) had two opportunities to tie the game before the Bulldogs (9-8, 1-0) grabbed the defensive rebound. Junior Rachel Kane secured the victory for Gonzaga by hitting two free throws with 17 seconds left.

Stephanie Hawk finished with her third double-double of the season, scoring 12 points and grabbing a game-high 13 rebounds.

Michelle Elliott led the Bulldogs with 13 points, and Heather Bowman added 12 to go with her nine rebounds.

Brandon Lassiter scored the game-winning goal with 12.8 seconds remaining to lead the Spokane Braves past visiting Princeton 4-3 in Kootenay International Junior Hockey League action at Eagles Ice-A-Rena.
