Clark on the mend

The Spokesman-Review

Harv Clark, the Gonzaga Bulldogs’ longtime public address announcer, will not be courtside for this afternoon’s West Coast Conference opener against Loyola Marymount.

Clark, who has been handling the microphone at GU games since 1990, underwent open-heart surgery just prior to Christmas and will be on the “disabled list” for a while.

“They’re telling me another month or so,” Clark said earlier this week. “Until then, all I’ve got to say is, ‘Go, Zags!’ “

According to GU officials, Gary Van Tol, an assistant baseball coach for the Bulldogs, will fill in for Clark today, with women’s P.A. announcer Mark Doolittle scheduled to work Monday night’s matchup against Pepperdine and remain in that position until Clark returns.
