Area men: Sasquatch get victory over Columbia Basin

Jon Clift hit 6 of 12 shots from the floor – including 2 of 4 from 3-point range – and finished with 18 points to lead the Community Colleges of Spokane Sasquatch to an 83-75 victory over the visiting Columbia Basin Hawks in Northwest Athletic Association of Community Colleges men’s basketball action on Saturday.

Ben Mitchell finished with 17 points on 7-of-11 shooting from the floor, including a pair of 3-pointers, while Zach Gianukakis came off the bench to score 13 on 6-of-8 shooting.

Shawn Brooks added 12 points for CC Spokane (10-11, 3-3).

As a team CCS shot 58.5 percent (31 of 53) from the floor for the game.

Andrew Kilgore tossed in 18 points to lead the Hawks (16-3, 4-2).

“ The North Idaho Cardinals erased most of a 20-point second-half deficit but came up short against the Eastern Utah Golden Eagles in a 94-88 loss at Coeur d’Alene.

NIC dropped to 11-7, 3-5 in the SWAC.

The Cardinals are fifth in the six-team conference with two home games against co-leader Salt Lake next weekend and two at co-leader Southern Idaho in two weeks.

CEU (13-4, 5-3) took sole possession of third place.
