Pats hand Chiefs third straight loss
REGINA, Saskatchewan – Four unanswered Regina goals spelled disaster for Spokane on Sunday, as the Chiefs fell to the Pats 4-1 in front of 4,050 at the Brandt Centre in Western Hockey League action.
Drayson Bowman’s 11th power play goal of the season put the Chiefs (24-18-3-2) ahead 1-0 at 6:09 of the first period. Ondrej Roman and Derek Ryan assisted on Bowman’s 17th of the season.
Regina’s Troy Ofukany scored a power play goal at the 14:57 mark to tie the game 1-1. Spokane goaltender Dustin Tokarski stopped 10 of the 11 shots he faced in the opening period, and saved 30 of 34 shots for the entire contest.
The Pats (20-23-1-3) received a second-period goal from Michael MacAngus and third period goals from Nick Ross and Jordan Eberle to seal the win.
Spokane currently sits in fourth place with 53 points in the U.S. Division of the Western Conference – two points behind Tri-City and three back of Seattle.
The loss marked the third in a row for the Chiefs, who continue their East Division swing on Tuesday with a 5:30 p.m. contest against the Prince Albert Raiders.
