Good Deeds: KEC distributes Round Up grants

Kootenai Electric Cooperative has distributed $17,550 in third-quarter Operation Round Up grants to people and groups in North Idaho. Recipients are:

The Christian Center School received $2,500 for computers.

Kootenai Medical Center Foundation’s Social Work Indigent Fund received $2,500 for patient support.

An elderly KEC member received $2,500 to help repair water-damaged flooring and insulation.

St. Luke’s Episcopal Church received $2,500 for the St. Vincent de Paul Transitional Housing facility and postage for the Support Our Troops campaign.

North Idaho Centennial Trail Foundation received $2,150 for a sign and map.

The Post Falls Food Bank received $2,000 for student school supplies.

A disabled KEC member received $700 for a computer for educational purposes.

The Teen Aid Project received $700 for materials, supplies, books and parent communication for local high school students who are failing core subjects.

A KEC member received $2,000 to help with financial obligations due to extreme health conditions.

“Coeur d’Alene Specialized Needs Recreation has received a $4,999 grant from the Governor’s Generation of the Child Initiative.

The money will help fund the local Camp Allstars Program day camps which serve 215 local disabled children by providing the opportunity to build confidence and self-esteem through various activities.

“The Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office and the Coeur d’Alene City Police DARE programs both received grants from Rathdrum Power LLC. The KCSD program was awarded $2,500 and the city program received $1,500. Funds were raised during a Cogentrix/Rathdrum Power LLC DARE golf tournament held last summer.
