Auditions

“South Pacific” – Spokane Civic Theatre, July 30-31, 6:30 p.m. at the theater, 1020 N. Howard. Callbacks will be Aug. 1. Auditioners must memorize a verse and a chorus of a song from a Rodgers and Hammerstein musical other than “South Pacific” and bring sheet music. There will also be cold readings from the script. Needed: 10-12 women ages 18-60, 12-16 men ages 18-65, one boy age 6-10 and one girl age 8-12. Performance dates: Sept. 29-Oct. 28. Call (509) 325-1413.

Classes and workshops

Rendezvous for Kids – The annual summer arts festival for kids ages 3-12 will be today and Friday in East City Park in Moscow, Idaho. There will be programs in theater, sculpting, dance, Native American art, creative writing and more. Registration is $10 per day for preschoolers and $15 per day for older children. Preschoolers must be accompanied by an adult. Registration is required. Call (208) 883-3115.

Basket Weaving – With master weaver Doris Howell, July 28, 9 a.m.-4 p.m. at the Dahmen Barn, 419 N. Park Way, Uniontown, Wash. Cost: $65 (includes materials). Registration is required by Saturday. Call (509) 229-3414.

Ignite Community Theatre – The theater is looking for volunteer directors for its 2007-08 Booklight Readers Theatre season starting in September. Spokane Watercolor Society – Artists are needed for the society’s 12th annual regional juried water media exhibition at the downtown Spokane Public Library, Sept. 29-Oct. 26. Call (509) 464-1434 for a prospectus.

Colville Arts Foundation – Artists and crafters are needed to provide work for display at Colville City Hall and the Colville Chamber of Commerce. Artists must install their own exhibit and no commissions are taken. Call (509) 684-3002.

Spokane Park ‘n’ Swap – Artists and crafters are needed for the flea and farmer’s market at the old Newport Cinemas at Highway 2 and Hawthorne Road. Continues every weekend though the fall.
