Hints from Heloise

The Spokesman-Review

Dear Heloise: Camping season is here. I would like to share my hint that eliminates arguments and makes each child recognizable, even at a distance. For each child, pick a color, then the camping gear for each child will be that color. For example, the color is red. So, a red plate, cup, toothbrush, polo shirts, shorts, sweater, jacket and hat will be one child’s; another will have a different color. Happy camping. – Jo Lokkins, via e-mail

Dear Heloise: After you have done a particularly unpleasant chore, like heavy gardening or cleaning up the house, be sure to treat yourself.

Some simple and cheap treat possibilities could be a long, leisurely bubble bath, or eating lunch out somewhere. Write a note to an old friend. Go to the library and borrow one of the books you’ve been wanting to read. Rent a favorite old movie or call up a dear friend. It doesn’t have to be expensive to be a treat. – T.F. from Virginia
