Name: Walter Daskam

Age: 72

Hometown: Stamford, Conn., but over the course of my careers I’ve lived in quite a few places. We moved to the Pacific Northwest in 1984 and to Hayden in 1999.

Occupation: Retired officer, U.S. Marine Corps, and I also retired from another profession, as a crop underwriter for the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

Family: My wife, Donna.

Hobbies: Golf and travel

What do you like about North Idaho? The overall climate, the clean air and the fact that there’s low humidity.

What do you like or dislike about the current season? I don’t like the forest fire threat every year.

Favorite music: Hawaiian and classical.

Favorite TV show: Anything on PBS

Favorite movie: “Battle Cry”

Favorite spot in North Idaho? Why? The Coeur d’Alene Public Golf Course. It’s challenging, and I play there with good friends.
