Scott leads at Memorial
Adam Scott flirted with perfection Friday at the Memorial in Dublin, Ohio, missing four putts inside 12 feet and still shooting a 10-under-par 62 for a one-shot lead at Muirfield Village.
Scott hopes it will be enough to shake off the golf gremlins that have been holding him back since his victory in Houston two months ago.
Scott was at 12-under 132, one shot ahead of Rod Pampling, who played bogey-free for a 68. Bubba Watson had a chance to tie for the lead until he went long on the 18th for a bogey for a 68, leaving him at a 10-under 134 with another Aussie, Aaron Baddeley (68).
Tiger Woods hit the ball decently enough, but couldn’t make anything outside 6 feet until he rolled in a 10-foot birdie on the final hole for a 72, leaving him 10 shots behind.
“Phil Mickelson had an MRI on his left wrist that showed inflammation, but no break. He plans to resume play next week. He withdrew from the Memorial after playing 11 holes Thursday.
LPGA
Lorena Ochoa shot a 5-under 67 to move to 9 under through two rounds, three shots ahead of first-day leader Angela Park (72) in the Ginn Tribute at Mount Pleasant, S.C.
Tracy Hanson of Rathdrum is tied for 35th at 1 over and Wendy Ward of Edwall, Wash., is tied for 51st at 5 over.

Duke’s Michael Schachner broke the NCAA tournament record with a 10-under 60, and Stanford took a two-stroke lead over Coastal Carolina with one round remaining at Williamsburg, Va.
