Reds 8, Rangers 4: At Cincinnati, Ken Griffey Jr. homered twice, snatching the spotlight from Sammy Sosa’s quest for No. 600 and leading the Reds to a victory over Texas. Slumping David Ross also homered twice for Cincinnati, which scored all its runs off five homers.

Braves 6, Indians 2: At Cleveland, Edgar Renteria went 5 for 5 with a homer and drove in two runs to lead Atlanta to a win over Cleveland.

Angels 3, Dodgers 0: At Los Angeles, Jered Weaver won his fifth consecutive decision and Reggie Willits and Howie Kendrick keyed a two-out, three-run rally with RBI singles in the fifth inning, helping the Angels defeat the Dodgers.

Yankees 11, Mets 8: At New York, Derek Jeter, Alex Rodriguez and the rest of the Yankees kept their crosstown rivals in a tailspin and left Tom Glavine stuck on 295 wins. Jeter hit a go-ahead homer and finished with four hits, Rodriguez also connected and the Yankees roughed up Glavine in their victory over the slumping Mets.

Blue Jays 7, Nationals 3: At Toronto, Vernon Wells homered and drove in a season-high four runs, Shaun Marcum struck out a career-high 11 over seven innings and Toronto beat Washington.

Red Sox 1, Giants 0: At Boston, Manny Ramirez ended a 50 at-bat homerless streak, Daisuke Matsuzaka struck out eight in seven innings and Boston remained 8 1/2 games ahead of the Yankees in the A.L. East by defeating San Francisco.

White Sox 6, Pirates 1: At Pittsburgh, Mark Buehrle scattered nine hits over eight innings, Josh Fields hit a two-run homer and Chicago beat Pittsburgh to snap a four-game losing streak.

Marlins 9, Royals 8: At Kansas City, Mo., Miguel Olivo went 5 for 5 and Miguel Cabrera hit two home runs to lead Florida past Kansas City.

Cardinals 15, Athletics 6: At Oakland, Calif., Juan Encarnacion doubled to extend his hitting streak to 16 games and drove in two runs, So Taguchi had three RBIs and St. Louis bounced back from a rout a night earlier with a lopsided victory.

Diamondbacks 8, Orioles 4: At Baltimore, Scott Hairston hit the first of Arizona’s three home runs off Daniel Cabrera, and the Diamondbacks dealt Baltimore its seventh straight loss. Chris Young and Chad Tracy also connected for the Diamondbacks, who built a 5-0 lead in the third inning.

Brewers 5, Twins 2: At Minneapolis, Dave Bush stopped a personal six-start winless streak, pitching Milwaukee to the victory over Minnesota.

Phillies 6, Tigers 3: At Philadelphia, Jamie Moyer outpitched a prospect half his age and Aaron Rowand homered and singled in the go-ahead run to lead the Phillies over Detroit. Shane Victorino had three hits, including a solo homer, for the Phillies.

Rockies 10, Devil Rays 5: At Denver, Brad Hawpe hit his first career grand slam and Garrett Atkins homered for the third straight game in Colorado’s win over Tampa Bay.
