Indians 5, Braves 2: At Cleveland, Fausto Carmona pitched seven-plus innings to help the Indians avoid a three-game sweep with the win over Atlanta. Casey Blake extended the majors’ longest hitting streak of the season to 26 games for Cleveland.

Red Sox 9, Giants 5: At Boston, Manny Ramirez was 2 for 4 with three RBIs, David Ortiz had a pair of doubles, and Tim Wakefield pitched well before faltering in the sixth to help the Red Sox complete the three-game sweep of San Francisco.

Twins 10, Brewers 9: At Minneapolis, Justin Morneau hit the first pitch in the bottom of the ninth inning over the baggie in right field for his third walk-off homer of the season to lift Minnesota to a victory over Milwaukee.

Devil Rays 7, Rockies 4: At Denver, Jonny Gomes hit a pair of two-run homers, Carlos Pena hit a solo shot into the third deck at Coors Field and Tampa Bay avoided being swept with a win over Colorado.

Cardinals 10, Athletics 6: At Oakland, Calif., Ryan Ludwick hit a go-ahead, three-run homer in the seventh inning and drove in a career-high five runs, leading St. Louis to its first interleague series win in four tries this season with a victory over the Athletics.

Yankees 8, Mets 2: At Yankee Stadium, Alex Rodriguez hit his major league-leading 27th homer, Chien-Ming Wang came within one out of a complete game and the Yankees won the second Subway Series of the season with a victory over the stumbling Mets.

Diamondbacks 6, Orioles 4: At Baltimore, Chad Tracy singled in the go-ahead run in the eighth inning, and Arizona capitalized on another poor performance by Orioles relievers in a victory that extended Baltimore’s losing streak to eight.

Rangers 11, Reds 4: At Cincinnati, Kevin Millwood got his first victory in two months and Marlon Byrd hit his first homer in nearly a year and drove in three runs, leading Texas to a victory over the Reds.

Pirates 8, White Sox 7: At Pittsburgh, Nate McLouth had a career-high four RBIs and Jose Bautista homered and had two RBIs for the Pirates in a win over Chicago. Jack Wilson scored three runs and Xavier Nady’s two-run single in the seventh to break a 5-5 tie proved to be the winning hit.

Angels 10, Dodgers 4: At Los Angeles, Howie Kendrick and Orlando Cabrera had three hits each and drove in a combined three runs, helping the Angels get the victory and clinch the second Freeway Series of the season.

Royals 5, Marlins 4: At Kansas City, Mo., Brian Bannister won his fourth consecutive start, Esteban German drove in the go-ahead run and the Royals defeated Florida.

Nationals 4, Blue Jays 2: At Toronto, Ryan Zimmerman homered for the second straight game and Washington beat the Blue Jays. Micah Bowie allowed two runs and four hits over six innings for his fourth straight win.

Tigers 7, Phillies 4: At Philadelphia, Justin Verlander lost his bid for another no-hitter early but watched Detroit come through late, scoring five runs in the seventh to rally and beat the Phillies.
