Idaho considered going straight from San Jose, Calif., to Las Cruces, N.M., but decided to return to Moscow because Saturday is an afternoon game. “You could argue both sides of it,” UI coach George Pfeifer said. “I guess maybe the chance to come home and do laundry before we head down” to Las Cruces. … New Mexico State’s Fred Peete, who starred at Pullman High, suffered a broken foot last week. “In a week, could he play for one game? Maybe,” assistant coach Damon Archibald said. … At the urging of head coach Reggie Theus, NMSU students have stopped a vulgar chant when opponents are shooting free throws.
