NIC learns Region 18 foes

North Idaho College teams, swept on the road by Salt Lake over the weekend, have learned their first-round Region 18 Tournament foes.

The fifth-seeded Cardinal men (16-14, 8-12 Scenic West Athletic Conference) take on No. 4 Eastern Utah (18-12, 9-11) at 4:30 Pacific on Wednesday at the Activity Center on the Snow College campus in Ephraim, Utah.

NIC lost three of four to Eastern Utah in the regular season.

No. 3 Salt Lake faces No. 6 Colorado Northwestern at 6:30 Wednesday. Wednesday’s winners advance to the semifinals Friday where No. 1 Southern Idaho awaits the NIC-Eastern Utah winner and second-seeded Snow faces the winner of Salt Lake-Colorado Northwestern.

In the women’s tournament, No. 3 North Idaho (19-11, 11-9) meets No. 6 Colorado Northwestern (5-24, 0-20) at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, followed by No. 4 Eastern Utah versus No. 5 Snow. The NIC-Colorado Northwestern winner takes on No. 2 Southern Idaho at 11 a.m. Friday. Top-seeded Salt Lake awaits the Eastern Utah-Snow winner at 6:30 p.m.

The women’s championship is Saturday at 4. The men follow at 6:30.
