Hints from Heloise

The Spokesman-Review

Dear Heloise: I would like to make a suggestion to hotels. Often, there are not enough towel racks to hang all of the towels provided. You can put them on the counter, which is not a very sanitary thing to do, or you could throw them on the floor. The more towels that are thrown on the floor, the more washing that needs to be done, and it increases costs of soap, energy and water. Providing sufficient towel racks would be a cost-saving measure. – Christine Vaught, Salem, Ore.

Many hotels have plenty of racks, and some don’t. Also, a lot of hotels/motels are going “green,” and there’s usually a card telling guests that fresh towels will be provided if the soiled towels are on the floor or in the tub. They encourage using towels more than once to help conserve water and energy.Heloise

Dear Heloise: I thought of a great way to trim the wick on a candle: With a nail clipper.– Gwen Gibiser, Center Valley, Pa.
