Deadline approaching for Writers Competition
COEUR d’ALENE – There is still time to enter the Writers Competition at the Coeur d’Alene Public Library. The deadline for entries is March 31.
The competition is for fiction or nonfiction prose of 2,000 words or less. Because of the specialized judging criteria, this competition does not include poetry or rhyming prose. Age groups for entries are 6-8, 9-11, 12-14, 15-18 and 19-plus. Entries must not have been previously published.
Entry forms and rules are available to pick up at the library; by sending a self-addressed, stamped envelope to Writers Competition, Coeur d’Alene Public Library, 201 E. Harrison Ave., Coeur d’Alene, ID 83814-3240; or by download from the library Web site, www.cdalibrary.org. To download click on the “Info” link at the top of the Web page and then on “Writers Competition.”
Entries will be judged by professional writers and editors. Winners will receive cash prizes – $100 for first, $50 for second and $25 for third – in each category and age group at a ceremony hosted by the Friends of the Library in May.
