Van Lierop snubbed

I have a question for the GSL boys basketball coaches: How could you not select Don Van Lierop of undefeated, state champion Ferris High School as coach of the year?

This is unbelievable. For what it’s worth, one of my children was cut from the Ferris program a few years ago, so I have no agenda here. I probably took that news harder than my son did.

A few years back Sean Mallon was snubbed as Player of the Year after leading his Ferris team to back-to-back state appearances and breaking the GSL scoring record.

Sigh, alas, is there “Saxon Envy” in the air? I’ll wear my Ferris hoops T-shirt proudly, Coach.
