Evan Ewing’s two-run single in the bottom of the fifth inning broke a 3-all tie and gave Ferris a 5-4 win over visiting Lewis and Clark Friday in the Greater Spokane League.
The Tigers (1-4) scored a run in the seventh for the final margin.
Andrew Kittredge (2-0), who struck out nine in the complete game, picked up the win for the Saxons (3-0).
Elsewhere in the GSL, Mead (3-0) scored 10 runs in the first two innings and routed host Central Valley (2-3) 11-0 in five innings. David Hennesey, who allowed one hit and no runs, picked up the win for Mead. … Jarek Cunningham hit a three-run triple in the fifth as Mt. Spokane rolled past host East Valley (2-3) 14-4. Nic Fowler picked up the win for the Wildcats (4-1). …Gonzaga Prep scored three unearned runs in the second inning and coasted to a 7-3 win over visiting North Central (3-2). C.J. Perry picked up the win for the Bullpups (2-3) after giving up one earned run in the complete game. … Kyle Erdman’s suicide squeeze with one out in the seventh scored Jake Campbell and gave Rogers a 6-5 win over visiting Shadle Park. The Pirates (1-4) trailed 5-3 heading into the bottom of the seventh after the Highlanders (2-3) scored five runs in their half of the inning.

Gonzaga Prep scored five runs in the top of the seventh and edged host East Valley (1-4) 6-4. Christie Norman’s two-run single gave the Bullpups (3-2) a 5-3 advantage in the seventh, their first lead of the game. … In other GSL play, Taylor Bachman allowed no hits in five innings as North Central (5-0) hammered host Lewis and Clark (0-6) 11-0 at Hart Field. The game was called because of the 10-run mercy rule after Kelsey Vallies hit a three-run home run in the fifth. …Michelle Wells hit two homers and knocked in six runs as University smashed host Mead (4-2) 17-1 in five innings. Shelby Bethel struck out 12 and allowed three hits and one run for the Titans (4-2). … Tressa Predisik hit a grand slam in the fourth and Shadle Park (5-0) routed host Rogers (1-4) 40-0. The Pirates’ Ashley Partridge broke up Highlanders’ starter Sam Skillingstad’s no-hitter with a triple in the fifth. … Central Valley scored nine runs with two outs in the sixth and routed host Mt. Spokane 19-9. Alyssa Erickson earned the win for the Bears (4-2) while Mindy Tremblay took the loss for the Wildcats (3-3).
“Jessica Ulrich struck out 12 and allowed two hits and no runs in a complete game as Lewiston (3-0, 1-0) shut out visiting Moscow (0-3, 0-3) 8-0 in Inland Empire League play. Angela Pegram had two hits and scored twice for the Bengals.

Galen Gorski’s goal in the 88th minute broke a 1-all tie and gave Lewis and Clark a 2-1, double-overtime Greater Spokane League win over visiting Mt. Spokane (0-5, 0-2) at Hart Field. Peter Dunau scored off an assist from Gorski in the 20th minute for the Tigers (4-2, 2-1), who outshot the Wildcats 16-8. … In other GSL action, Nick Johnson and Jesse Brown scored two goals apiece as East Valley blanked visiting Rogers (2-3, 1-2) 7-0. Andrew Mastranardi added a goal and two assists for the Knights (3-2, 3-0). … Adrian Tarkington scored a goal in the first and second halves as Mead shut out visiting North Central 4-0. Michael Shriver and Jason Hamer each had a goal and an assist for the Panthers (6-0, 3-0), who outshot the Indians (1-5, 0-3) 22-2. … Matt Wakeley and Sam Magnuson scored second-half goals as Gonzaga Prep (2-2, 1-1) edged visiting Central Valley 2-1. Track and field
Nick Puckett won the 100- and 200-meter events, leading the Timberlake boys to a first-place finish at the Christina Finney Relays in Post Falls. Lewiston finished second, followed by Lake City. On the girls’ side, Lake City ran away with the overall team title. Lewiston came in second, followed by Lakeland.
