Man cited in ATV accident
A Cheney man was cited for reckless driving Sunday after his ATV tumbled down a 450-foot embankment on Moon Pass in Shoshone County.
Brian Primmer, 22, and a passenger, 26-year-old Ginger Ann Galler, were thrown from the ATV, according to the Shoshone County Sheriff’s Office.
Primmer may have dislocated his shoulder, and Galler may have suffered a broken leg and broken arm, the Sheriff’s Office reported. The two were fortunate to have suffered only minor injuries, given how steep the terrain was, the Sheriff’s Office said.
“If it had not been for the deep snow below the roadway, more serious injuries might have occurred,” Sheriff Chuck Reynalds said in a press release.
Excessive speed was a factor in the crash, the Sheriff’s Office said.

Coeur d’Alene
Mother to speak on kidnapping
A Coeur d’Alene woman who was involved in an international custody dispute is speaking this week about her efforts to amend the Hague Convention on International Kidnapping to address domestic violence cases.
Karin von Krenner’s case made headlines in 2002 after her 12-year-old son was taken from her home by a U.S. marshal and sheriff’s deputies.
The boy’s father, a citizen of Cyprus, said von Krenner had kidnapped their son. She told reporters she fled an abusive marriage.
Though von Krenner and her ex-husband worked out the custody dispute, she has spent the past 13 years working to educate people on the Hague Convention, which she was accused of violating.
She worked with Seattle Law University and the University of Minnesota to create legal and moral guidelines for judges and lawyers dealing with such cases.
Von Krenner will speak at the Human Rights Education Center from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday as part of the Rights of the Child Exhibit and Events.
The center is at the northeast corner of Coeur d’Alene City Park, across from Memorial Field.
