Area roundup: CCS baseball swept in NWAACC doubleheader

Community of Colleges of Spokane was swept by Wenatchee Valley in a NWAACC college baseball doubleheader on Wednesday in Wenatchee.

CCS (25-19, 15-11) fell 1-0 in the first game when a throwing error and a safety squeeze in the third inning scored the only run for Wenatchee Valley (29-18, 16-10). CCS, which was knocked out of first place, dropped the second game 17-7.

College track

University of Idaho junior Molly Burt (3,005) stands in third place after four of seven events of the heptathlon in the Western Athletic Conference championships in Fresno, Calif.

Idaho’s Darcy Collins (Kootenai High) is in fourth with a score of 2,858 and teammate Lindsey Goodman (2,681) is seventh.

In the decathlon, Idaho’s Ian Snook is fourth after five events with a score of 3,268.

“Eastern Washington University freshman Jordan Oswald (2,907) is in 14th place after the first day of the Big Sky Conference decathlon in Pocatello.

In the heptathlon, Bailey Cox (Wilbur-Creston) of Montana is in fourth (2,992). EWU’s Jessica Duran is seventh (2,875).
