Mets 3, Braves 0: At Atlanta, Oliver Perez pitched seven scoreless innings, David Wright hit his fourth homer in the last four games and New York beat the Braves.
Nationals 12, Reds 7: At Cincinnati, Ryan Church hit a pair of home runs and drove in a career-high six RBIs to lead Washington to a romp over the Reds. The two teams are tied for the worst record in the N.L. at 18-29.
Rockies 2, Diamondbacks 0: At Phoenix, Jeff Francis allowed five singles in seven innings, leading Colorado to a victory over Arizona. Francis improved to 7-1 lifetime against the Diamondbacks, and 4-0 at Chase Field.
Padres 2, Cubs 1: At San Diego, Kevin Kouzmanoff hit a two-run homer and David Wells allowed one run in seven innings to lead the Padres over Chicago.
Dodgers 5, Brewers 1: At Los Angeles, Brad Penny stranded six runners in scoring position through seven scoreless innings, Russell Martin tied a career high with four RBIs and the Dodgers beat Milwaukee.
Giants 9, Astros 1: At San Francisco, Bengie Molina drove in four runs – two each with a triple and a single – and the Giants cruised to a win over Houston.
Cardinals 5, Pirates 3: At St. Louis, Kip Wells ended a seven-game losing streak with seven strong innings and was backed by three home runs, a rare power display that helped the Cardinals beat Pittsburgh. The Cardinals have hit a major-league low eight home runs this month.
