Spiders sputter on road
PROVO, Utah – Morgan Gilliam, Steven Sellows and Zachary De Francis all scored second-half goals as Brigham Young University topped Spokane 3-1 in a Premier Development League soccer game.
Jake Moug put the Spiders (2-2) on top 1-0 after his goal in the 72nd minute. The Cougars (3-1) responded with three goals in a 5-minute span to end the game, beginning with Gilliam’s goal in the 88th minute.
BYU dominated the match, outshooting Spokane 19-7.
With the win, the Cougars advance to the U.S. Open Cup, which begins June 12.
Next up for Spokane is a road game against Tacoma FC on Friday.
