Hints from Heloise

The Spokesman-Review

Dear Heloise: I’d like to pass this hint on to parents who are sending kids off to college. I filled a bag with all the different over-the-counter medications that I felt my son would need if he got sick. That way, he didn’t have to visit the store and try to remember what Mom gave him when he was at home. I plan on checking the expiration dates every year and replace or replenish what’s needed. – Pamela, via e-mail

Pamela, loved your hint – bet your son did, too. Heloise

Dear Readers: Many people have baking soda around their house. It has a multitude of uses – here are a few:

•Keep shoes fresh by sprinkling some baking soda inside (do not use on leather shoes).

•Dog toys in need of a cleaning? Baking soda to the rescue. Make a solution of baking soda and water and give the toys a good scrubbing.
