Dustin McConnell made two free throws with 1.6 seconds remaining in regulation to give Clarkston a 72-71 season-opening win over visiting Post Falls in a non-league contest on Tuesday.

After trailing by eight points after three quarters, the Bantams outscored the Trojans 26-17 in the fourth to earn the win.

Don Perconti scored 19 points and McConnell added 15 for Clarkston.

Levi Buckles tallied a game-high 24 points to lead Post Falls.

In other non-league season openers, Lamond Ostlie scored 14 points and Spencer Shanholster added 12 to guide Cusick to a 52-47 win over visiting Coeur d’Alene Charter. Mike Mitchell had 14 points and seven rebounds to lead the Panthers. … Henry Butler scored 16 points and Jeffrey Livingston added 13 as St. George’s defeated visiting Tekoa-Oakesdale 47-40. Casey Cook tallied 15 points to lead the Nighthawks. … Mike Martin made an 18-foot jumper with 4 seconds remaining in overtime to give Clark Fork a 52-50 win over host Priest River. Martin finished with 20 points and Thomas McMahon added 13 for the Wampus Cats. Jake Weimer had 10 points and seven rebounds for the Spartans. … Ethan Patzer scored a game-high 16 points and Bucky Thomas added 13 as Kootenai defeated visiting Timberlake 54-30 at Harrison. … Ryan Huff scored 19 points to guide Lakeland (1-0) to a 64-55 win over visiting Bonners Ferry (0-2) at Rathdrum.

Girls

Jenny McVeigh and Katelyn Loper scored 12 points apiece to guide Post Falls to a 64-36 non-league win over host Clarkston. Jordan Schoening chipped in 11 points and Kandice McArthur added 10 for the Trojans (3-1), who outscored the Bantams 25-9 in the fourth quarter. Kellie McCann-Smith scored a game-high 17 points and added eight rebounds and six steals to lead Clarkston (0-1). … In other non-league games, Chessey Thomas scored 17 points and Lenna Leverett-Standal added 10 as St. George’s edged Tekoa-Oakesdale 44-42. Leverett-Standal made two free throws with 13 seconds left to give the Dragons the win. … Kaela Calabretta scored 12 points and Marisa Bush added 11 as Kellogg (4-1) edged host Sandpoint 32-30. “Senior Fawn Story scored 15 points to lead Clark Fork (4-0, 2-0) to a 59-22 North Star League win over visiting Mullan (0-2, 0-1). Megan Hess had 17 points for the Tigers.
