Minimum wage to rise to $8.07

From Staff Reports The Spokesman-Review

Washington’s minimum wage will increase 14 cents to $8.07 an hour beginning Jan. 1.

The state Department of Labor and Industries recalculates the state’s minimum wage every September. The law requires that the minimum wage be adjusted according to the change in the federal Consumer Price Index, which covers the costs of goods and services needed for day-to-day living.

The index increased 1.8 percent during the 12-month period ending in August, compared with a 3.9 percent increase during the same period in 2006.
