Stanford goes from beating USC to losing to Horned Frogs
STANFORD, Calif. – Aaron Brown scored on a short run with 4 minutes, 13 seconds left to complete the comeback, and Robert Henson batted away Travis Pritchard’s fourth-down pass to preserve Texas Christian University’s 38-36 non-conference victory over Stanford on Saturday.
A week after slowing down Southern Cal’s offense and pulling off one of the signature upsets in college football history, the Cardinal could not solve the TCU passing attack.
Andy Dalton threw for 344 yards and two touchdowns as TCU (4-3) ended a two-game slide. Brown rushed for 91 yards and caught five passes for 45 yards and a TD, and Jimmy Young caught three passes for 110 yards.
The Horned Frogs, hit by injuries at several key positions, were ranked as high as No. 19 earlier in the season.
Pritchard, the hero of the USC upset, was 12 of 27 for 171 yards and two TDs for Stanford (2-4). Anthony Kimble added 109 yards and two TDs on the ground.
The teams traded scores through most of the first three quarters, with Kimble’s 15-yard TD early in the second half putting the Cardinal ahead 28-17.
