Boys soccer
Miguel Mendez and Rob Hart scored two goals apiece and Mikal Kraus scored one goal and assisted on two others to lead Bonners Ferry to a 7-4 semifinal victory over American Falls at the Idaho State 3A tournament Friday at Buhl High School.
Mark Chrisman and John Wakkinen scored the other goals for Bonners Ferry. Jordan Snow and Rafa Villa scored twice apiece for American Falls.
The Badgers will face Payette for the state title today.
“Matt Martin scored two goals and added one assist to lead Moscow to a 4-1 consolation semifinal victory over Jerome in the State 4A tournament at the Bannock County Fairgrounds in Pocatello. Taylor Anderson and Dom Trevisan also scored for Moscow. Moscow plays Burley for the consolation championship today.
Girls soccer
Elsa Sweek scored with an assist by Amie Evans and Wood River ended Moscow’s season with a 1-0 victory in a State 4A loser-out game at the Bannock County Fairgrounds in Pocatello.
Cross county
The Bonners Ferry girls and Timberlake boys repeated as team champions at the 3A District I championships at Mirror Lake Golf Course in Bonners Ferry. Kenny Stuart of Kellogg was the boys individual champion, clocking 17 minutes, 54 seconds over the 5,000-meter course. Brian Tucker of Timberlake was second in 18:19, the first of three Tigers to finish in the top 10. Melody Braden successfully defended her girls district title, finishing in 20:40 as all five scoring runners for Bonners Ferry finished in the top 10. Alex Turbin of Timberlake was second in 21:23.
