Elway’s son said headed to ASU
Quarterback Jack Elway, son of NFL Hall of Famer John Elway, has committed to playing for Arizona State, the Rocky Mountain News reported Saturday.
The younger Elway has thrown for 1,677 yards and 21 touchdowns this season at Cherry Creek High School in suburban Denver.
Arizona State coach Dennis Erickson was offensive coordinator on the staff of Jack Elway Sr., John’s father at San Jose State from 1979 to 1981.

Morrison suffers knee injury
Charlotte second-year forward Adam Morrison attempted to defend Luke Walton on a drive to the basket and crumpled to the floor in severe pain while clutching his left knee during an NBA exhibition game at Los Angeles.
Morrison, the Gonzaga University product who averaged 11.8 points in 78 games last season after being taken third overall in the 2006 draft, was helped to the dressing room with 5:23 left in the third quarter and did not return.
“I planted, then I felt it pop and my leg locked up,” Morrison said. “I was in extreme pain. They don’t know exactly what it is yet. The X-ray was fine, but I’m getting an MRI tomorrow, so we’ll find out further about what’s going on. I’m worried right now. Hopefully I’m lucky and it’s just a minor tear or something.”

Forecast: Just wait and see
Meteorologist Bernie Meier has studied the computer weather models for the World Series games in Denver next weekend and has come up with two possibilities – the weather will either be nice or not so nice.
“Can’t say for sure, not yet at least,” said Meier, who works for the National Weather Service in Boulder. “I wish I had a crystal ball.”
The World Series games in Denver are scheduled for Saturday and next Sunday. There’s also a game on Oct. 29, if necessary.
Last year, the region was socked by a storm on Oct. 26 that dumped 5.3 inches of snow.

Who needs a big house if you’re going to the big house?
Not Michael Vick, who has put his Georgia lakefront mansion on the market for $4.5 million.
Vick, awaiting sentencing after pleading guilty to federal charges related to dogfighting, won’t have much use for his seven-bedroom, 8 1/2-bath place in Duluth for a while.
Say, maybe, 12 to 18 months.
The estimated monthly payment on the home is $23,206.
