Stuckey out for six weeks
Detroit Pistons guard Rodney Stuckey had surgery on his broken left hand Thursday and is expected to be out for about six weeks.
The rookie from Eastern Washington injured his hand in Detroit’s final exhibition game Wednesday. He averaged 12.1 points, 3.5 rebounds, 3.1 assists and 1.3 steals in eight games.
Stuckey was expected to start the season next week at Miami playing a key role, primarily backing up point guard Chauncey Billups.
Stuckey was injured in the third quarter of Detroit’s 104-85 win over the Washington. He was fighting through a screen and got his fingers caught in a jersey.
“Obviously, I’m disappointed,” he said. “I’ve never broken anything before, and now I’m going to have to sit out.”

Heytvelt, Gurganious will miss Kraziness
Forward Josh Heytvelt (foot) remains sidelined and wing Larry Gurganious (knee) won’t participate when Gonzaga holds its Kraziness in the Kennel scrimmage tonight at 7 at McCarthey Athletic Center.
Heytvelt, who has a stress reaction in his right foot, has made little or no progress over the last week, coach Mark Few said. Gurganious hurt his knee in a scrimmage Saturday, but it doesn’t appear to be too serious. He doesn’t need surgery and he might miss as little as a week, Few said.
David Pendergraft, who had two off-season knee surgeries, will play in the scrimmage, Few said.
Tonight’s event is open to the public on a first-come basis. Doors open at 6.

Suns waive ex-Zag Frahm
The Phoenix Suns welcomed back all-star Amare Stoudemire on Tuesday and said goodbye to former Gonzaga guard Richie Frahm on Wednesday.
Stoudemire had not practiced since undergoing minor arthroscopic surgery on his right knee on Oct. 2. Frahm had signed a make-good deal with the Suns, but was waived after Stoudemire’s return brought the Suns’ roster up to the necessary 13.
Frahm, 30, who played at Gonzaga from 1997 through 2000, had been out of the NBA for a year after playing for four teams in three seasons.
