Fond farewell

The congregation of St. John’s Lutheran Church will gather for the final worship service in its current building at Third Avenue and Division Street at 10 a.m. Sunday.

The church also will host a Reformation celebration with a mass choir at 4 p.m. Sunday.

The public is welcome to attend either event.

The congregation has been at the downtown location for 107 years, but beginning in November it will move to 5810 S. Meadowlane Road. A new church building will be constructed in the spring.

Greek fire relief

Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church will host a special fundraiser today at 7 p.m. to help victims of the huge fire in Greece.

The event will include Greek music, dancing, snacks, beer and wine. The cost is $10.

The church also will host a pizza lunch at noon Sunday, followed by a short film about Greek resistance during World War II. Donations will be accepted.

All proceeds from both events will benefit the relief fund. The church is at 1703 N. Washington St.

Fair trade fair

A Lutheran World Relief Fair Trade Fair will be at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 2715 S. Ray St., today from 1 to 4 p.m.

The fair will feature handmade items from artists in 35 countries. Proceeds are returned to the artists who created them.

Bazaars

“St. Mark’s Lutheran Church will host a bazaar and bake sale next Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the church, 316 E. 24th Ave. There also will be raffle items, gift baskets, a coffee bar and more. For more information, call (509) 747-6677.

“The women of Liberty Park United Methodist Church will have their annual bazaar and luncheon next Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

There will be Christmas items, quilts, baked goods and more. A soup, pie and beverage luncheon will be available for $4 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

“The Episcopal Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist will host its 79th annual bazaar next Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

The event includes crafts, gift items, door prizes, a luncheon and raffle items. Live music will be performed throughout the day.

Those stopping by the sale are invited to take a tour of the historic building at 127 E. 12th Ave., which has new stained-glass windows.

“Central Lutheran Church will have its annual Scandinavian bazaar on Friday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the church, 512 S. Bernard St. The sale features Scandinavian specialties like lefse, meatballs and cookies. Proceeds will benefit Lutheran World Relief and local charities.

A Norwegian coffee hour, or “kaffe stu,” will run from 9 to 11 a.m. The cost is $4. For more information, call (509) 624-9233.

“Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Cheney will host its annual holiday bazaar and luncheon next Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

There will be Scandinavian baked goods, crafts, gift baskets, quilts and more. Lunch will be served from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The church is at 639 Elm in Cheney.

“A holiday bazaar will be next Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Pilgrim Lutheran Church, 2733 W. Northwest Blvd.

There will be baked goods, dried flowers, Christmas items, jewelry, crafts and more.

Concerts

“The Chaminade Trio will perform Sunday at 7 p.m. at the Unitarian Universalist Church, 4340 W. Fort George Wright Drive.

The trio includes symphony musicians from Spokane and Seattle on piano, violin and cello.

“New Heights Church will host “DASHOW” at 7 p.m. Friday at the church, 708 W. Nora Ave.

The performance will feature the Daughters of Divine Dance and the SureHouse Open Bible Church Sanctuary Choir of Tacoma.

Harvest dinner

A harvest dinner and auction are planned for next Saturday at Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church at 622 N. Plaza in Rosalia, Wash.

Dinner will be served at 5 p.m., and bidding will begin at 7. There also will be raffle drawings throughout the evening.

The cost is $15 for adults and $5 for children ages 5-12. Kids 4 and under will be admitted free.

The event is hosted by Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in St. John, Wash., St. Catherine Catholic Church in Oakesdale, Wash., and Holy Rosary.
