Casto returns to Ferris
The saga of basketball player DeAngelo Casto continues.
Casto, a senior, re-enrolled at Ferris on Tuesday, the school’s principal, Erik Ohlund, confirmed.
“Clearly he has enrolled in classes today at Ferris High School,” Ohlund said. “Other than that, I am unsure of what his circumstance is because it just occurred.”
Casto was a key part of the Saxons’ 29-0 State 4A basketball championship season after transferring from Freeman midway through his sophomore year.
He then left at the end of last school year and was enrolled at Franklin in Seattle before his return to Spokane.
Still to be addressed is whether he can return to the basketball program.
“I assume he’s interested in playing basketball, but haven’t talked to him or anything,” Ohlund said. “I realize there could be eligibility issues based upon his transfer.”

Runner’s World honors Buder
Spokane runner Sister Madonna Buder, 77, is listed in Runner’s World magazine as one of the Heroes of Running, an annual feature that will appear in the December issue.
The honored runners have gone above and beyond, defying expectations, breaking barriers and leading future generations of runners.
Buder has powered through more than 300 triathlons, including 34 full Ironmans.
In May of this year, Buder suffered a triple fracture of the ulna and a single fracture of the radius when another biker crashed into her during California’s Wildflower Triathlon.
Proving she’s as resilient as ever, in June, just eight weeks after her fracture, Buder won her age group at the USA Triathlon Age Group National Championship.
