Girls soccer
Shadle Park benefited from an own goal in the 80th minute and beat Gonzaga Prep 3-2 in a District 8 4A match Tuesday at G-Prep.
After a scoreless first half, Britney Boulding scored off an assist from Kristi Wirtz in the 44th minute to give the Highlanders (11-4) a 1-0 advantage.
Ali Fenter added a goal in the 56th minute for Shadle before the match-winning own goal.
The Highlanders advance to the regional playoffs as the Greater Spokane League’s second seed and will play at Columbia Basin League No. 2 Pasco on Saturday. The Bullpups (10-4) were eliminated.
“Jessica Thomas and Niina Al-Hassan had a goal and an assist apiece to guide Pullman (16-2) to a 3-0 win over Clarkston (3-13) in a District 7 2A match in Pullman. Anna Albrecht scored the Greyhounds’ first goal 4 minutes into the match. Pullman will play at West Valley (13-4) in the second round Thursday at 4 p.m. The Bantams were eliminated. … Elsewhere, Riverside (9-7) eliminated Deer Park (6-12) with a 3-0 win at Riverside. Tabitha Grow scored two goals, both in the first half, to lead the Rams, who will play at Cheney (15-2) at 4 p.m. on Thursday in second-round action.
Boys soccer
Jared Friedly’s hat trick lifted Northwest Christian to a 4-1 win over visiting Northport in a District 7 2B match. Derek Buttrick also scored for the Crusaders (8-5-2), who advance to play Riverside Christian Thursday at 10 a.m. at Gonzaga Prep in the first round of the regional playoffs.
Volleyball
Kelsey Schalock had 12 kills to lead Chewelah to a 26-24, 25-9, 25-18 win over Omak in a District 6/7 pigtail match at Lake Roosevelt High in Coulee Dam. The Cougars advance to play Chelan in the first round of the regional playoffs Saturday at 11:30 a.m. at Cascade High in Leavenworth.
