People: Her Cruise was a pleasure, says Nic
Nicole Kidman reveals in a new Vanity Fair interview that she had a miscarriage shortly after marrying Tom Cruise, and was engaged to another man before wedding second husband Keith Urban.
Kidman, 40, who married country singer Urban in June 2006, says she has no regrets when it comes to her marriage to Cruise.
“My agents told me, ‘Once you become Mrs. Tom Cruise, you do know your career is going to die,”’ says Kidman, who won an Oscar for her portrayal of Virginia Woolf in 2002’s “The Hours.”
“I was appalled,” she says. “I was like, ‘Hello? I’m in love, and I don’t care if it’s shooting myself in the foot. I’d much rather be married and have a family.’ “
The couple “lost a baby early on, so that was really very traumatic,” Kidman discloses.
She and Cruise adopted two children, Isabella, 14, and Connor, 12, before divorcing in 2001 after 10 years of marriage.
“And then I got engaged to somebody … but it just wasn’t right,” Kidman says, without naming names. “I wasn’t ready. We weren’t ready.”
“I get engaged, and I get married – that’s my thing,” she adds. “I don’t want to date. I’m interested in a very, very deep connection.”
Kidman says she hopes to have a baby with Urban (who comes to the Spokane Arena for a concert next Thursday).
“I’m yearning to have one,” she says. “I think I would be very sad if I wasn’t able to have a baby. Keith knows I want one, and he has been getting there slowly.”
Rolling out a new model?

Heath can quit her
On the relationship front, “Spider-Man” star Tobey Maguire on Monday married the mother of his almost 1-year-old daughter, Jennifer Meyer, in a ceremony in Hawaii.
He and Meyer, the daughter of Ron Meyer, president and chief operating officer of Universal Studios, have been together since 2003 and got engaged last year.
But it’s all over between Heath Ledger and Michelle Williams, who have ended their relationship of three years.
The couple, who have a daughter, met in 2004 while filming “Brokeback Mountain,” for which they both received Oscar nominations.
No-a ask, no-a tell
A Los Angeles judge has approved a $545,000 arbitration award to Jennifer Lopez in a lawsuit against first husband Ojani Noa.
Noa, who had planned to publish a tell-all book claiming the 39-year-old singer-actress had several affairs, also is permanently barred from publishing disparaging details about her.
Were they in bed together?
Larry Birkhead and Howard K. Stern plan to sue the author of a new book that claims they shared a sexual encounter before Anna Nicole Smith‘s death and made a “secret deal” regarding her infant daughter, Dannielynn.
“Blonde Ambition: The Untold Story Behind Anna Nicole Smith’s Death” alleges that Stern – Smith’s longtime attorney and later her partner – agreed to give custody of Dannielynn (who turns 1 on Friday) to Birkhead in return for being named executor of her estate.
Author Rita Cosby claims there’s a videotape of the alleged Birkhead-Stern tryst and that one of Smith’s former employees had seen the Playboy Playmate watching it.
