Cougar Names to know

RUSSELL ALLEN, SDSU LINEBACKER

The 6-foot-3, 235-pound weakside backer was second on the team in tackles (88) last season and led in tackles for loss (six). A junior, he was voted captain by his teammates for the intensity of his play.

ALFONSO JACKSON, WSU SAFETY

Despite being listed at 5-9 and 204 pounds, he played almost a fourth linebacker during last week’s loss against Wisconsin. When the Aztecs run the ball, especially on the edges, he’ll be the guy who comes up and delivers a blow.

DARREN MOUGEY, SDSU WIDE RECEIVER

When regular Aztecs quarterback Kevin O’Connell went down with a thumb injury last season, the 6-6 Mougey started three games at quarterback. With O’Connell healthy, Mougey, a junior, has been moved to receiver. He last caught a pass his junior year in high school.
