Prep Roundup: Lake City handles Madison
The Lake City football team proved Friday why it’s important to play hard throughout the entire game.
After being held scoreless in the first half, the Timberwolves got rushing touchdowns from B.J. Palmer, Tom Anderson and Zach Clanton in the second half and beat host Madison 19-9 in a non-league game in Rexburg, Idaho.
Lake City (3-0) trailed 3-0 at the half, then outscored Madison 19-6 in the final two quarters.
In other non-league action, St. Maries (1-2) built a 20-0 halftime lead and cruised to a 29-0 win over visiting Potlatch. Lumberjacks quarterback Jarod Bitterman converted 7 of 13 passes for 132 yards and one touchdown. … Jake Hall had touchdowns on the ground and through the air and Kolten Willms threw two touchdown passes as Kootenai routed visiting Noxon (Mont.) 40-0 at Harrison. The Warriors (3-0) built a 28-0 lead in the first quarter and held Noxon to 37 yards total rushing.
Jared Byers ran for 93 yards and one touchdown and returned an interception for another score as Pullman beat host Moscow (0-2) 27-13. Cam Turtle hit on 8 of 11 passes for 102 yards and one touchdown for the Greyhounds (2-0), who led 21-7 at halftime. … Ryan Armbruster completed 14 of his 17 pass attempts for 221 yards and two touchdowns as Sandpoint routed host Boise 35-3. Kyle Gibson caught six passes for 139 yards for the Bulldogs (1-2), who dominated the second half, outscoring Boise 21-3. … Nick Hughes ran for three touchdowns, leading Riverside (2-0) to a 34-6 win at Priest River (1-1). West Valley senior quarterback Bryan Peterson completed 13 of 23 passes for 305 yards and two touchdowns, leading the Eagles to a 26-13 win over visiting Lethbridge, Alberta. Peterson also had a 2-yard touchdown run in the first quarter to put West Valley (1-1) ahead 6-0.
Elsewhere, Josh Eldred rushed for 101 yards on 15 carries and scored on a 1-yard run in the second quarter as Reardan (1-0) blanked visiting Columbia of Burbank 14-0.
