Nationals 7, Braves 4: At Washington, spacious and aging RFK Stadium, down to the final homestand of its baseball life, had a rare night as a home-run-hitting ballpark. Two players hit their first homers of the season, another player hit No. 2, and Atlanta’s Chipper Jones clobbered No. 26 as the Nationals put another dent into Atlanta’s fading playoff hopes.

Brewers 5, Reds 3: At Milwaukee, Prince Fielder hit his league-leading 46th homer and Milwaukee beat Cincinnati to stay close in the Central.

Marlins 10, Rockies 2: At Denver, Miguel Cabrera hit the first grand slam of his career to help Florida beat slumping Colorado.

Cubs 3-3, Cardinals 2-4: At St. Louis, Miguel Cairo’s RBI triple capped a four-run third inning, and the Cardinals rallied past Chicago in the second game of a day-night doubleheader. In the opener, Alfonso Soriano hit a go-ahead, two-run homer in the eighth inning that powered the Cubs to a win.

Padres 6, Giants 0: At San Diego, Brett Tomko scattered four singles in six innings and the Padres beat San Francisco.
