Andre Woodson threw a 57-yard touchdown pass to Steve Johnson with 28 seconds left and Kentucky shocked No. 9 Louisville 40-34 Saturday night in Lexington, Ky., the Wildcats’ first victory over a top-10 team in three decades.

Kentucky was about to lose its fifth in a row to its intrastate rival and had been pushed back because of a personal foul penalty. Then Johnson zipped past the Cardinals’ secondary and Woodson nailed him in stride.

Woodson completed 30 of 44 passes for 275 yards and four TDs as he beat Brian Brohm, a rival dating to high school, for the first time.

Brohm’s last-second desperation attempt was deflected and caught by Harry Douglas at the 10, but time expired.

Although Brohm didn’t put up the gaudy numbers of his first two games when he amassed nine TD passes, he did lead a late drive that put Louisville in a position to win.

Kentucky was ahead 33-28 with 6 minutes left when Brohm began an 84-yard drive that ended in Anthony Allen’s 2-yard TD plunge. It was the second touchdown for Allen, who had 96 rushing yards a week after generating a team-high 275 against Middle Tennessee.

Woodson went another game without throwing an interception, extending his streak of passes without one to 257. That broke the Southeastern Conference record set by Georgia’s David Greene in 2004 and is 14 short of Trent Dilfer’s NCAA mark.

(2) LSU 44, Middle Tennessee 0: Ryan Perrilloux looked nothing like a backup quarterback in his first career start for LSU.

Perrilloux threw for 298 yards and three touchdowns to lead the Tigers (3-0) over the Blue Raiders (0-3) in Baton Rouge, La.

With a Southeastern Conference showdown against Steve Spurrier’s No. 17 South Carolina squad looming next weekend, LSU coach Les Miles decided to rest regular starter Matt Flynn, who had sprained his right ankle a week earlier.

(6) Texas 35, Central Florida 32: Colt McCoy threw for 259 yards and two touchdowns, and Jamaal Charles scored on a 46-yard run to clinch a victory for the Longhorns (3-0) over the Owls (1-1) at UCF’s new on-campus stadium in Orlando, Fla.

Ryan Bailey kicked five field goals for Texas (3-0), which regrouped after squandering a 13-point lead to fall behind 24-23 early in the fourth quarter.

Kevin Smith ran for 149 yards and two TDs for the Owls.

(7) Wisconsin 45, Citadel 31: Running back P.J. Hill tied a school record with five touchdowns and the Badgers (3-0) shook off a first-half scare to beat the Bulldogs (2-1) in Madison, Wis.

The Badgers extended the nation’s longest active winning streak to 12 games, and never trailed. But for a half, it looked like they were in danger of becoming the second Big Ten powerhouse this season to be upset by a team from what used to be known as Division I-AA.

The Citadel (2-1), a member of the Football Championship Subdivision, matched Wisconsin touchdown-for-touchdown and went into halftime tied at 21.

(12) Penn State 45, Buffalo 24: Anthony Morelli threw for 202 yards and a career-high four touchdowns – two to Andrew Quarless – and Rodney Kinlaw ran for 129 yards and a score as the Nittany Lions (3-0) defeated the Bulls (1-2) in State College, Pa.

Penn State scored its third straight double-digit victory, though this one was far from easy.

Fumbles by Austin Scott derailed two early Penn State drives, one on his own 8 that set up a Buffalo field goal to give the Bulls a 3-0 lead.

(13) Rutgers 59, Norfolk State 0: The Scarlet Knights (3-0) produced the biggest second quarter in school history, and all they needed was 11 plays and 91 seconds to amass 277 yards and score 42 points.

Ray Rice ran for three touchdowns and Mike Teel threw for three more in the lightning-quick outburst that carried the Scarlet Knights to a victory over the Spartans (1-1, FCS) in Piscataway, N.J.

(21) Boston College 24, (15) Georgia Tech 10: Matt Ryan threw for a career-best 435 yards and the Eagles (3-0, 3-0 Atlantic Coast Conference) shut down Georgia Tech star Tashard Choice in a victory over the Yellow Jackets (2-1, 0-1) in Atlanta.

Ryan was 30 of 44 in the third 400-yard passing game of his career, which included a 39-yard touchdown pass to Brandon Robinson. The senior surpassed his previous best from just two weeks ago, a 408-yard effort against defending ACC champion Wake Forest.

Alabama 41, (16) Arkansas 38: Matt Caddell caught a 4-yard touchdown pass in the corner of the end zone from John Parker Wilson with 8 seconds left, lifting the Crimson Tide (2-1, 2-0 Southeastern Conference) to a victory over the Razorbacks (1-1, 0-1) in Tuscaloosa, Ala., for the first big win of the Nick Saban era.

Alabama moved from its own 27-yard line with 2:13 left – mostly on the Wilson-to-Caddell connection – after twice blowing 21-point leads.

(17) South Carolina 38, South Carolina State 3: Blake Mitchell threw three TD passes and the Gamecocks beat the Bulldogs (1-2, FCS) in Columbia, S.C., to open with a 3-0 record for the first time in six years.

(18) Virginia Tech 28, Ohio 7: Freshman Tyrod Taylor completed 18 of 31 passes for 287 yards and ran for a TD to lead the Hokies (2-1) to a victory over the Bobcats (2-1) in Blacksburg, Va.

(20) Clemson 38, Furman 10: Cullen Harper completed 16 of 19 passes for 266 yards and three touchdowns in his third career start and the Tigers (3-0) defeated the Paladins (1-2) in Clemson, S.C.

(23) Georgia 45, Western Carolina 16: Matthew Stafford threw two second-quarter scoring passes and three different running backs scored touchdowns to lead the Bulldogs (2-1) over the Catamounts (0-3, FCS) in Athens, Ga.

(25) Texas A&M 54, Louisiana-Monroe 14: Stephen McGee threw for 237 yards and a TD and Jorvorskie Lane had two TD runs to lead the Aggies (3-0) over the Warhawks (0-3) in College Station, Texas.
