Sunday’s results
Rockies 7, Padres 3: At San Diego, the Padres melted down in a loss to Colorado, losing two outfielders to injuries – including Milton Bradley in a bizarre sequence after he was ejected – and allowing the Rockies to close within 1 1/2 games of the wild-card lead following an impressive three-game sweep.
Giants 5, Reds 4: At San Francisco, Pedro Feliz hit a tying homer during a five-run sixth inning, rallying the Giants to a victory over Aaron Harang and Cincinnati.
Mets 7, Marlins 6 (11): At Miami, David Wright singled home the decisive run in the 11th inning, two shaky relievers finally protected the lead, and New York took a big step toward the playoffs by beating Florida.
Braves 7, Brewers 4: At Atlanta, Milwaukee lost more ground in the Central. The Braves rallied for four runs in the seventh inning and Atlanta sent the wobbling Brewers to their fourth loss in five games.
Cubs 8, Pirates 0: At Chicago, Carlos Zambrano got his career-best 17th win by pitching six sharp innings before leaving with cramps, and the surging Cubs expanded their Central lead to 3 1/2 games.
Nationals 5, Phillies 3: At Washington, Antonio Alfonseca and Geoff Geary came out of the bullpen and gave up the lead, and Philadelphia failed to finish off a sweep of the Nationals, losing in the last major league game at RFK Stadium.
Dodgers 7, Diamondbacks 1: At Phoenix, Arizona wasted a chance to extend its lead in the West, losing to Chad Billingsley and Los Angeles.
Cardinals 4, Astros 3: At St. Louis, Rick Ankiel’s two-run triple off Houston closer Brad Lidge capped a three-run rally in the ninth inning and the Cardinals beat the Astros.
