Nationals 13, Mets 4: At New York, Austin Kearns hit a three-run homer and Ronnie Belliard drove in three more in Washington’s victory over the Mets. Carlos Delgado had two hits and Moises Alou extended his club-record hitting streak to 28 games with a sixth-inning double for New York. Alou also committed an error in left that allowed a run to score in the fourth. Matt Chico pitched into the sixth inning and Ryan Langerhans hit a three-run homer in the ninth for the Nationals.
Brewers 13, Cardinals 5: At Milwaukee, Prince Fielder hit his league-leading 48th home run and the Brewers beat St. Louis. Milwaukee scored four runs off starter Adam Wainwright before he got his first out of the game. The four-run first included a three-run homer by Fielder, who clanged a 0-1 pitch off a steel girder high in right-center field. Milwaukee then put the game out of reach with five runs in the fifth and three in the sixth, including a two-run homer by rookie Ryan Braun, his 33rd. Brewers manager Ned Yost was ejected for the second consecutive day
Giants 9, Padres 4: At San Francisco, Omar Vizquel drove in a season-high four runs to help Barry Zito and the Giants beat San Diego. Zito singled in a run on the way to his first career win in seven outings against the Padres. Ryan Klesko chopped an RBI single into shallow left to put San Francisco ahead 3-2 in the third, when the Giants scored five runs against Chris Young. Zito allowed four runs and eight hits in five innings, struck out one and walked three for San Francisco.
