New gluten-free line available

Lorie Hutson Food editor

Here’s another option for those seeking gluten-free foods: California mom Shari Cole is launching a line of gluten-free products called Gluten Free and Fabulous in area stores.

Cole developed the products for her father, who has celiac disease, and her mildly autistic daughter. Many autistic children benefit from a gluten-free diet.

Her new Gluten Free and Fabulous line includes, brownie bites, butterscotch cookie bites, chocolate chip cookie bites, shortbread cookie bites, quinoa pasta with marinara, macaroni and cheese, pizzas, pizza crust and sweet savory bites. The products retail for $6.50 to $6.99.

The Gluten Free and Fabulous products all have the seal of approval from the Celiac Sprue Association, which certifies that the products are manufactured and processed so they are free of wheat, barley, rye, oats and their derivatives. They can be found at Fred Meyer stores nationwide, Meyers Falls Market in Kettle Falls and the Ferry County Co-op in Republic, Wash.

Or, go online to www.glutenfreefabulous.com to purchase products.

Cole is introducing the products with an appearance Saturday on KXLY-ABC’s Good Morning Northwest. The show airs from 5 to 7 a.m. Cole will be talking about gluten-free cooking the whole family will love and its benefits for celiacs, kids with autism and women who are trying to lose weight, according to a news release.
